Blue Jays and Virtual Evolution

As one of the Avian Cognition Laboratory Technicians, my objective is to insure blue jays are auto shaped and prepared for operant experiments. Working with the two other research technicians we assist undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctorates with daily avian laboratory maintenance. In addition I help oversee our Blue jay colony, run operant experiments, and maintain avians.

I have my undergraduate and masters degree (2002) from the University of Nebraska in Animal Science. Previously working with Japanese quail, I studied the behavioral and physiological effects of chicken-gonadotropin releasing hormones. In addition as an undergraduate student, I worked with the Bureau of Land Management Wild Horse program and their ecological impacts in the west. I have always had an interest in animal physiology and behavior, therefore working within the Avian Cognition laboratory is truly a joy.

I am originally a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana (as most people pick up on my southern accent). I enjoy spending time with my husband and two girls, exercising, and visiting with friends. I also have a pet Quaker parrot at home named Oats.
